Students enrolled in Integrated Technologies II at Stephen T. Badin H.S. will concentrate their studies on mastering advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills. Emphasis will be placed on creating professional-appearing, relevant and informative documents.

Computer security issues are studied.

Efficient use of Internet-based tools for research, collaboration and communication is stressed throughout all coursework.

MONDAY IN-CLASS WORK

1) Read this article on Google Calendars.

2) Log-in to your Google Apps account.

3) Now, create your personal calendar in Google Apps. Enter at least 15 different events (include descriptions for all) for your calendar (Birthdays, Special Events, Projects due, etc). If there are specific times for events, please use them; otherwise make the event "all day".

Requirements:

  • At least 3 events in March
  • At least 4 additional events in April
  • At least 4 additional events before end of school year.
  • At least 4 additional events before end of 2010
  • Create and set "reminders" for at least two events in March or April.
  • Change default view to MONTH
  • REPEATING events counts as ONE!

Please keep in mind when creating events that ANY member of the Badin community can access your calendar. Don't post actual dates/times if you don't want them known.

Thursday

  1. Create a new form for the Items table. Customize it duplicating the features we've learned to date:
    * Header with 2 labels - One a form title and the other containing your   name. Format each label differently. Use color for labels and Header background.
    * List box
    * Combo box
    * "Backing" rectangle featuring specific fields
    * Rearrange fields
  2. Create a new Yes/No field in the Item table - "Bulk Discount Offered?"
  3. Populate this field as "No" for first two suppliers and "yes" for second two.
  4. Create a memo field - "Assembly Instructions" - for the Item table.
  5. Add your new fields to your form.
  6. Print your form

  1. Read this article.
  2. 300+ word report. Comment on a) your use of media--do you agree with basic tenets of the article? b) Specifically with regard to educational use, what type of device would you most like to purchase next? (desktop, laptop, netbook, iTouch, iPhone, iPad, other tablet or smartphone, etc.)
    c) give me some good reasons for your decision.
